Description:

Tape adaptor - a simple tape mechanics to be connected to a radio receiver and powered by an ordinary turntable. Those who could not afford a regular tape recorder, which was an expensive novelty at the time, could buy the adaptor. The adaptor is a half-track, 19,05 cm/s at 78 RPM of the turntable. The black box contains a record and playback preamplifier, the radio would be used as a power amplifier and the adaptor would be connected to its turntable input. The frequency response was limited to 5 kHz and this would be sufficient only for non-demanding use. The playing time could be extended by reducing the turntable speed, but this would further degrade the frequency response. The mechanics enables only playback, the tape had to be wound back by hand, using a crank. It is not even equipped with an erase head, the tape would be erased with a handheld coil, however this would erase the entire reel.
