Medium-wave transmitter Tesla SRV 5 - prototype

Year of manufacture: cca. 1995
Manufacturer: Tesla Prague-Hloubětín
Transmitting frequncy: Medium wave
Output power: 5 kW
Description:

The transmitter uses only semiconductors. It contains ten blocks, each of 500 W power. In case of a failure of one of the blocks, the transmitter continues to operate and the block can be replaced during operation. The reduction of output power is so small that the listeners will not notice it. This prototype was also successfully tested with DRM digital radio transmission, but the DRM system was never authorised for use in the Czech Republic and the series production of these transmitters never started. Similar transmitters are still produced for analog broadcast and even some new medium-wave stations such as Český Impuls or Radio Dechovka (Brass Music Radio) have shown up.
