Medium-wave transmitter Tesla SRV 3/B

Year of manufacture: 1956
Manufacturer: Tesla Prague-Hloubětín
Transmitting frequency: Medium wave
Output power: 3-3,5kW
Description: This relatively small transmitter was used to cover areas where the signal from the main transmitters was too weak. It uses a good-quality anode modulation. It was reconstructed in the seventies. It was used in Northern Bohemia in Nová Ruda transmitting facility near Vratislavice nad Nisou. It was withdrawn in 2008 and the facility with its 60 m tall antenna was demolished.

In the left part of the cabinet, the control and power supply circuits are placed. The middle section contains the high-frequency part with the driver and final stage vacuum tubes. The right part contains the modulator, which is basically an audio frequency amplifier similar to the one that you have connected to the speakers at your home, only bigger and more powerful. Its output modulates the voltage supply of the high-frequency part and that is how the audio signal is added to the radio signal. The output of the transmitter was connected to the antenna tower placed near the transmitter building.
