Manufacturer: | Filmový průmysl Barrandov (Movie Industry Barrandov, Prague) |
Description: |
This camera was used for production of movies on the classic film material of 35 mm width - the same as the film formerly used in photographic cameras. The camera could also use the 16 mm format. This type of movie camera is suitable for the production of special effects, e. g. it could shoot only one frame at time. This is necessary for making animated movies. The animator had set the scene and then recorded a single frame. Then he modified the scene and recorded another frame etc. until the whole movie was complete. As you can imagine, the creation of animated movies is extremely labour-intensive. Today, their creators mostly use digital technology, but some of them still prefer traditional manual work. This specimen was used in the Czechoslovak TV for production of "večerníček", a short animated series for children, which was broadcast in the evening before the children go to sleep. |
