Audio distribution system Tesla AUA 120

Year of manufacture: cca. 1970
Manufacturer: Tesla Vráble
Output power: 2x 75 W
Description: This is an audio distribution unit used in factories, schools and towns. Most of the electronics use semiconductors, only the power stage uses vacuum tubes. The output power is 150 W at 100 V, the so-called 100-volt speaker system. This power was sufficient to provide sound for a medium-sized village. A two-wire line was connected to the output of this unit and the speakers in the streets were connected to this line. Each speaker has a built-in transformer that matches the impedance of the speaker to the voltage of the distribution line. If more output power was required, additional amplifiers could be connected to the system.

The 100-volt speaker systems are still used in buildings or towns, but sometimes they are replaced with wireless systems.

A very similar system is the "cable radio". It is the same technology, but used for different purpose.
