Tape cassette

Year of manufacture: the end of the 1980s
Manufacturer: Filmové laboratoře (Film Laboratories) Barrandov, Prague
Description:

A tape cassette suited for recording data from 8-bit computers. The tape has different properties than the tape used in audio cassettes, it is modified for two-state signal recording. The cassettes were the only memory medium for home computers until the beginning of the 1990s, the diskettes were too expensive. Regular tape recorders were used, but also some special types designed specifically for computers were made. These had a digital control input, so they could be controlled directly by the computer.
