Description:

The diskette was introduced to the market by the IBM company in 1971. Their design was based on hard disks, but the magnetic disk was made of a flexible material and placed inside a protective cover. The first type had 8 inch diameter and was used in Czechoslovak computers until the end of the 1980s. Later, also the 5,25 inch diskettes were used. The diskette drives were of Hungarian or Bulgarian manufacture. After the fall of socialism, the smallest 3,5 inch diskettes with rigid cover came to the Czechoslovak market and were used until the 21st century.
