Tesla PMI-80

Year of manufacture: since 1982
Manufacturer: Tesla Piešťany
Description:

Single-board school computer for programming lessons. It contains a Tesla MHB8080A processor, which is a copy of Intel 8080, and 1 kB RAM. The keyboard and display are of a calculator type. The ROM memory of the computer contains a simple operating system that provided data storage into the memory, viewing the memory contents and loading or storing data on a tape recorder. The system contains no compiler, the instructions were inserted in machine code. The programmer would create a program on paper and then use translation tables to compile the instructions into a machine code. Then they would type the resulting hexadecimal values on the keyboard and store them into the memory. It was possible to connect auxiliary circuits to the computer and use it to build e. g. an industrial automation control. It was used for this purpose even in real industry operations. Even some simple games could be programmed. It was used just in the way you see it, it did not have any cabinet.
