"The wolf" neon lamp

Description:

A neon lamp of Russian origin for decorative purposes, with a wolf-shaped electrode. By connecting a mains voltage through a large-value resistor, a small current will flow through the lamp and the gas inside will produce light. The discharge copies the surface of the electrode. It was possible to add phosphors to the surface that would produce various colors of the light. Similar lamps were made with an electrode shaped as a candle flame. It was possible to build the electrode in a way that would ensure instability of the discharge. The light would flicker as a real flame in the wind.
